What we collect, what we don't, and how to get it removed.
Who we are
pikl.in is an independent guide to pickleball in India, operated as a sole proprietorship by Vishal Choudhary in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This policy explains what data is collected when you visit the site or book a session, and the choices you have. Questions: hello@pikl.in.
What we collect
You do not need an account to read anything here, and we take no payments on the site. There are two ways we end up with data about you:
- Just browsing. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — pages visited, approximate location at city level, device and browser type. It is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
- If you submit the DUPR booking form. That one asks for your name, email address and WhatsApp number, plus your preferred session type, a preferred date, and anything you write in the notes box. See the next section.
If you book a DUPR session
The form on our DUPR Rating Session page sends what you type to a private Google Sheet that only the site owner can open. We use it to contact you about the session you asked for — nothing else. It is not shared with anyone, not sold, and not used for marketing.
Being straight with you about retention: we keep those rows indefinitely. There is no scheduled clear-out, so rather than claim a deletion policy we do not actually follow, we would rather tell you what happens. If you want your entry removed, email hello@pikl.in and we will delete it and confirm.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@pikl.in — one person reads that address, so there is no process to navigate. We will respond within a reasonable period and will not charge you for it.
Advertising & cookies
We use Google AdSenseto show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show you ads based on your visit to this and other sites.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can opt out of some other third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies entirely in your browser settings — the site works fine without them.
Affiliate links
Some pages — mainly our World Cup where-to-stay, things-to-do, schedule, getting-there and plan-your-trip pages — contain affiliate links to booking platforms. If you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked, and the booking relationship is between you and the platform, under their own privacy policies. Our gear and editorial pages carry no affiliate links.
Functional cookies
The password-protected coaching area sets a single cookie (coach_token) so you stay signed in. It identifies a session, not a person, and isn't used for tracking or advertising.
Maps
The World Cup venues page shows an interactive map. Its background tiles are fetched from OpenStreetMap data served by CARTOas you pan and zoom, which means those requests reach CARTO's servers and carry your IP address, as any image request does. The map sets no cookies, and we send it nothing about you. If you would rather not load it, every venue on that page is also listed in full as text, with its address, below the map.
Other people's data on this site
One page — our Cross Court Cup partner board — displays player names from a registration sheet published by that event's organisers. We render what they publish; we did not collect it and we do not store it. If your name is on it and you want it removed, that is a request for the organisers, though we are happy to point you at them.
External links
We link out to official event sites, governing bodies, and booking platforms. Once you leave pikl.in, those sites' own privacy policies apply.
Children
The site is general-audience sports content and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Junior players are booked for coaching by a parent or guardian, who submits the form.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the homepage. See also our terms of use.
